APRIL 2024

Start of demo 1 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Dear members,

Each year, in addition to getting together the day before the IBD meeting, ExComm’s only other in-person meeting usually takes place in March or April, with the others being held online. However, with a new ExComm taking over on July 1, and with so much to do before the handover process begins, we thought it best to meet as early in the year as possible, so we gathered for meetings in London from 6-7 January. Since then, we have been working hard on all the projects we have committed to completing before July.

Within the next month, we will be launching a new public-facing website at mensa.org and finalising the new international member database, which will enable every Mensan worldwide to verify their membership and gain quick and easy access to mensa.org and Workplace, our #1 members-only online community.

All will be revealed next month, so watch this space! In the meantime, there is an important international election that requires your attention!

03. Your Mensa News Team Needs YOU!

If you’re on Workplace, you’ll know that the MI News Team creates and posts articles several times a week on all kinds of topics of interest to members. Some of these articles are also shared in this newsletter and the MI Facebook group.

We’d love to post more articles, and more often. We’d also love to create a digital magazine and start working on other exciting news projects. But in order to move forward, we’re going to need more support.

As a new member of the Mensa News Team, you’ll get all the help and guidance you need, and the role itself is very flexible: if surfing social media is more your kind of thing than editing articles, that’s OK; if you prefer researching events or interviewing volunteers, that’s great; if you’d rather mine information from NM magazines using ChatGPT than design a member survey, that’s absolutely fine.

You could even focus on a completely new area. As long as the resulting content is of interest to members worldwide, that’s all that matters! Oh, and if English isn’t your first language, you’ll be in the majority!

Bottom line: if you’d like to
a) be part of an ambitious and dynamic News Team
b) make a difference to Mensa and your fellow Mensans worldwide, and
c) gain valuable personal and professional international experience

then please contact us. Just tell us a bit about yourself and how you’d like to contribute.
